A new international poll has revealed that money is the main source of stress in most countries — but men and women often don’t worry about the same things.

The survey, which was conducted by Reader’s Digest, asked people from 16 countries one simple question: What stresses you the most?

A total of 150 participants from each country chose between money, family, health and state of the world. The result shows that most participants consider money to be the number one reason for stress.

The recession has not only left its mark in our bank accounts, but also in our minds.

Worry over money is world concern and can make you sick.

Well this is no surprise to me. Even without the recession or depression that has swept the world, money is the major stressor for most people at any given time. Sex is often in the mix but for now the pressures of money rank highest for most people.

It can be an unsettling stressor that hounds you. It costs so much to just keep up in our culture. Try to focus on simple things. Make lists and cross out what you accomplish. Take time every day to relax and release your worries and tension. Making yourself sick with worry will only make you feel worse. Anchor your self-worth on something other than money………….

Dear President Elect Obama,

You are taking on the toughest public office in the world at a very critical juncture in world history. Don’t choke! Don’t screw up. Don’t mess up. If you do, we will all read or hear about it instantly and it will be a part of world history.

The Whole World is looking for you to save us from a World Wide Depression. Talk about pressure!!!

You are going to be photographed and video taped at every opportunity. A mistake or mispoken word, a strange gesture – they will be played over and over all over the world.

The pressure is so tremendous that you will experience and show accelerated aging.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/01/06/presidential.health.aging/index.html

Aging President Obama

Based on past presidents, it is predicted that you will age a twice the normal rate by being president of the United Sates. Ouch!!!!!

Gee, I feel stressed out even thinking about it. I make mistakes but I do not have to get up in the morning and see them on CNN or splashed all over the internet. I do not have to see ‘talking heads’, the TV experts of the moment, critiquing my performance. Wow. that is some pressure that you will be facing.

You are not even in office and it is being reported that you are showing signs of accelerated aging.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/05/obama-on-aging-the-gray-i_n_110985.html

My advice is that along with a great diet and regular exercise you need training and a coach to help you keep your stress level to a minimum. I would think that a 10 minutes in the morning and at night would be a great way to clear your mind and focus on being calm. At least one or 2 breaks a day of 5 to 10 minutes to practice deep breathing and letting tension go. Seriously, your health and your job performance depends on it.

The whole world needs you healthy and at your best.
