Mindfulness training busts stress
Mindfulness training busts stress
The program lasted eight weeks and participants were followed for an additional three months. Williams said they found those who received the mindfulness training “had significantly less daily hassles, psychological distress and significantly fewer medical symptoms” — like lower blood pressure and fewer aches and pains — than those who were handed a pamphlet.
Wow, eight weeks is a very short intervention time. It is remarkable to show much of any effects that can be documented other than anecdotal stories. Research is often based on such short training periods due to various constraints. I think it is also remarkable given that Negative habits that cause and nuture Negative stress are a life time in the making. In fact, they can be a family or culturally trained response.
Of course, being handed a pamphlet is kind of underwhelming as an intervention or training tool.
The aspect here that is very good is to demonstrate that we have some definitive control of our mind and bodies. We can make a change.

mindfulness is a bridge to peace
I readily agree that even simple training in deep relaxation, mental relaxation, etc will result a wide range of positive changes in daily life. Wonderful, empowering change!
